New health center on tap for West Las Vegas

Nevada Health Centers, Inc. (NVHC) will break ground with the City of Las Vegas on a new community health center at 11 a.m. Monday, March 28. Groundbreaking activities will take place at the new facility’s site located at the corner of Mount Mariah Drive and Stella Lake Street in West Las Vegas. Las Vegas Mayor Oscar B. Goodman and Tom Chase, chief executive officer of NVHC, will preside at the ceremony.

"The new building will bring more jobs to the city at the same time that we will provide better access to health care," Chase said.

NVHC is planning job fairs that will be held in September and November of this year. More information about the upcoming job fairs can be provided by calling 775-307-5414, ext. 1352.

Providing a sliding fee scale for uninsured patients, the facility will also accept most private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare and Nevada Check Up.

The new facility will house the Las Vegas administrative staff on the top floor, with 19,300 square feet of space for the medical center occupying the bottom floor. The center is one of four NVHC comprehensive facilities in the Las Vegas area that accept all patients and offer a full spectrum of care. Physicians will be able to provide comprehensive assistance ranging from OB/GYN services to aging-related care.

"NVHC's future health center is an outstanding example of an effective private-public partnership – in this instance, between Nevada Health Centers, the Health Services and Resources Administration that provided NVHC with funding from the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the city of Las Vegas Economic and Urban Development Department that facilitated the selling of the land to NVHC, and other public and private foundations and donors," Chase said.
