Photo Gallery | Former Military Gather for Job Fair

Hundreds of veterans from all generations were invited to meet with companies eager to put them to work

Two job fairs held Thursday helped connect veterans with local and national employers. Companies like Home Depot, Caesars Entertainment and MGM Resorts International were all there to talk with former members of the military.

RecruitMilitary organized one of the job fairs. They say job expos are about employers showing what kind of employee they are looking for, and about veterans showing how their unique skill sets can be used in civilian life.

“We also want to educate the veterans on how to articulate what it is they did and how it translates into what these employers are looking for,” John Lundeberg with RecruitMilitary said. “These young men and women have a great understanding of what it means to get a job done in a timely manner. They have an incredible work ethic.”

The veterans at the job fair said despite the tough job market they are actually having luck finding opportunities.

Besides job fairs, there are website geared toward former military members and those looking for government jobs.

One of the big local employers at Thursday’s job fair was Caesars Entertainment. The company is looking to fill several positions that would be a good fit for veterans.
