Deadline Set to Register to Vote in Special Election

People living in Congressional District 2 have until Tuesday, August 23 to register for the upcoming special election.

To register to vote you can go to the County Election Department office near Cheyenne Avenue and Martin Luther King Boulevard in North Las Vegas. Voters can also register at the Clark County Government Center on Grand Central Parkway. Both offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The election offices will be open until 7 p.m., Monday, August 22 and Tuesday, August 23 to accommodate more voters.

The special election will be September 13. It is only open to residents of Congressional District 2. That area includes all of northern Nevada along with parts of southeastern Clark County including Mesquite, Sandy Valley, Jean, Goodsprings, Primm, Southern Highlands, southern Sun City Anthem and Nellis Air Force Base.

The seat became vacant after Dean Heller was appointed to the senate to replace Sen. John Ensign who resigned earlier this year. Republican Mark Amodei and Democrat Kate Marshall are running for the congressional seat.
