More details about barricade involving 2 children

LAS VEGAS -- Metro Police have released more information about the barricade situation that happened Tuesday involving two children.

According to police, they were first called to home of Jerry Stewart, the father of suspect Cassandra Percival, on a report that Cassandra and her husband Jessie Percival had forcibly taken their two kids away from him.

Child Protective Services had put the children, ages 13 and 10, in Stewart's care after they deemed the Percivals to be unsafe.

Stewart told police that during the struggle over the kids, his finger was caught in the door and the tip had been cut off, when his daughter had slammed the door. He was taken to University Medical Center where he was treated for the injury.

Police tracked the children and the Percivals back to their house near Alexander Road and Lamb Boulevard. The couple refused to come out of the house.

The domestic violence unit and SWAT were called to the home to negotiate the Percivals' surrender.

SWAT was requested after Stewart told police that Jessie Percival had threatened to hurt his wife and children in the past.

Stewart told officers that Jessie Percival had threatened to kill his wife and kids before he would let anyone take them. He also said he would burn his house down with everyone inside.

Metro's hostage negotiators were able end the standoff without incident. Jessie and Cassandra Percival are being charged with first degree kidnapping, mayhem, child endangerment and battery domestic violence with substantial bodily harm.

In arrest documents from Metro Police, conditions inside the Percival home may have caused the kids physical and mental harm.

CPS says the home had no running water, electricity or food.
