Military Families Get Back-to-School Help

It is almost time for back to school for most kids in southern Nevada, and kids with parents in the military are getting some extra help to go back to class.

Operation Homefront Nevada has spent the last month collecting school supplies for the annual Back-to-School Brigade program. This weekend those supplies will be disturbed to the children of service members. The event will be Saturday at the Floyd Edsell Training Center, 6400 Range Road.

Operation Homefront Nevada has teamed up with local businesses to collect pens, paper, scissors and other items needed for school. They also worked with Operation Homefront groups from around the country.

"Military families, especially those in the lower and mid-grade ranks, can see a real money crunch at back-to-school time," said Annie Baca, Interim Chapter President of Operation Homefront Nevada. "We really want to thank everyone in the community who continued to volunteer or donate supplies. It makes a real difference in the lives of these military families."
