Police Arrest 2 Suspects in Officer Involved Shooting

LAS VEGAS -- Two burglary suspects are in custody and police are investigating an officer involved shooting that caused major disruption in a northeast neighborhood Tuesday.

Police say around 10 a.m., two gang detectives tried to apprehend two men who were jaywalking in the area of Lamb and Owens. The two men took off, running into the La Fiesta apartment complex. Seven nearby schools were put on lock down and a portion of Owens was closed to traffic.

Police say 22-year-old Ray Ivory pulled out a nine-millimeter handgun and aimed it at the detectives. That's when one officer drew his weapon and fired several shots. No one was injured. Police say Ivory dropped the weapon and ran into a nearby apartment. Police were able to arrest him a short while later. He is facing two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on an officer.

The second suspect, 24-year-old Fredrico Ramon Gordon Jr. did not run from the scene and was arrested.

Teen Dies After Being Shot at a House Party Friday Night

LAS VEGAS - Metro Police are investigating an apparent gang shooting near Sandyfalls and Vegas Valley that resulted in a teen girl dying.

Police say the victim is a 17-year-old girl, who was shot in the head Friday night. The girl was transported to the hospital where she later died.

Authorities say some of the witnesses to the shooting may have gang affiliation. Police originally believed it was a drive-by shooting at a house party. However, they say they are receiving different stories from several witnesses.

Neighbors in the area remain on edge after the shooting. "It's a little disturbing, because my wife is pregnant right now," neighbor Brandon Katon said. "To live in this neighborhood and to know that somebody out your back door possibly got shot, it's unsettling. You have no idea what's going on around you. You think you can be safe, but you never know."
