Military moms will get a special treat this weekend. Volunteers with the National Charity League have put together special gift baskets for expecting moms that are either in the military themselves or have a spouse in the military.

Operation Showers of Appreciation will present 22 baskets full of some of the essential items new moms will need. The charity chose the military moms because many of them are new to the area and do not have anyone to throw them a baby shower.

The shower will be held at Nellis Air Force Base but all branches of the military have been invited to attend. Most of the women are first-time moms or are expecting multiples. Some of the women are expecting to give birth while their husbands are deployed.

“A lot of the husbands are coming back and they do not have jobs. Everybody knows how expensive a baby shower is. So, it is kind of nice that we can offset and give them some of those essentials,” Jody Shervanik with Operation Showers of Appreciation said.
