Nellis Airmen Get Gifts for the Holidays

Nellis Airmen Get Gifts for the Holidays

Airmen in need received help Friday to give their families a happy holiday.

Operation Warmheart provides support to airmen stationed at Nellis Air Force Base throughout the year. During the holidays, the group makes a special effort to collect toys, food and money for families on the base.

The charity received a check for $21,000 Friday from Friends of Nellis. The donation will be used for the Adopt a Family program.

This year the organization reached out to 248 families. The families were paired up with donors from southern Nevada who then got them what they needed for the holidays.

"It is just phenomenal and amazing. It warms your heart every time you see it and it makes you really happy to do what you do, when you see that kind of support pouring out from your community," president of Operation Warmheart Brian Noethlich said.

Operation Warmheart is a charity made up of Air Force 1st sergeants.

The public is encouraged to drop by the post at 4337 Las Vegas Boulevard, which is near Craig Road and Las Vegas Boulevard, to take a name from the tree. Those waiting to donate can also email adoptamilitaryfamily@hotmail.com and the family's information will be sent.
