Power outage near Flamingo and Pecos affecting Chaparral High School

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Chaparral High School and the surrounding area have lost power, and NV Energy is reporting an outage affecting 1,500 customers in the area of Flamingo Road and Pecos Road.

Clark County firefighters responded to a fire in the area just after 8 a.m., but it was unclear if the fire caused the outage.

The fire department had 10 vehicles on the scene of a fire near Flamingo and Pecos, where there is a shopping center with a Las Vegas Athletic Club and a Smith’s grocery store.

A statement from a Chaparral assistant principal to parents said classes were proceeding on schedule.

“… The school is without power this morning due to an outage in the neighborhood. Nevada Energy has been notified and is sending a team to address the matter, but I wanted you to know that school is still taking place on our regular schedule. Due to the outage, our phone service is not working, so we will send you another message to let you know when power has been restored. Thank you for your cooperation as we work through this situation.”
