Murdered Nellis Airman's Funeral Scheduled

NELLIS AFB, Nev. -- A murdered father of four, Staff Sgt. Nathan Paet, will be laid to rest Wednesday at Nellis Air Force Base at 3 p.m. The 28-year-old was killed on December 1 as he was preparing to leave for work.

Police say Paet was shot to death when he opened his garage door. No one has been arrested in connection with the airman's death. Paet was an F-15 supply section technician assigned to the 757th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron.

The Paet family appreciates the community and media‚Äôs support during this difficult time. The family issued a statment saying, "We are saddened by the loss of Nate and it is impossible to comprehend why someone would harm him.  He was a wonderful person who was loved by so many and will be forever missed and never forgotten."

The Nathan Paet Memorial Fund has been established to support Paet's family. Anyone wishing to contribute can do so at any Wells Fargo Bank.

Anyone with information on the crimes is being asked to call Metro's Homicide Section at 828-3521 or, to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555.
