Fatal Crash Numbers Decline Significantly

LAS VEGAS -- New numbers just released by Las Vegas police show fatal car crashes have declined significantly over the past three years.

In a year-to-date comparison, Metro reports 106 fatal accidents in the first nine months of 2007. That number declined to 86 in 2008, dropped again to 60 last year, and the downward trend continues this year with 52 fatal car crashes on our roadways so far in 2010.

That's a more than a 50-percent decrease in the number of fatal car crashes in Clark County since 2007.

With three and a half months still to go in 2010, Metro says it's going to take everyone doing their part on the roadways to keep that downward trend going.

That means slowing down, following at a safe distance, keeping your full focus on the road, and of course never climbing behind the wheel while impaired.
