Woman struck, killed after attempting to cross Las Vegas Blvd in an electronic mobility scooter

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-- Metro police are investigating a deadly crash near Las Vegas Blvd. and Agate Avenue Sunday evening.

Police received a call for reports of a collision involving a vehicle and a woman who was attempting to cross Las Vegas Blvd. in an electronic mobility scooter shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The woman was transported to an area hospital but later died.

Impairment is not suspected at this time.

The Las Vegas Blvd is closed northbound and southbound at Agate Avenue while the investigation is completed.  

Officials warn drivers to avoid the area.

This collision is being investigated by the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section.

Fremont Street Experience celebrates the beginning of Hanukkah

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-- Fremont street experience is celebrating the start of Hanukkah with the lighting of the Grand Menorah in downtown Las Vegas Sunday.

The ceremony, featuring a 20-foot Grand Menorah, was led by Rabbi Levi Harlig and Rabbi Shea Harlig from Chabad of Southern Nevada to welcome the holiday known as the Festival of Lights.

The Jewish holiday runs until sundown on Dec. 6th.

3 people killed, several others injured in multi-vehicle accident on U.S. 95; Driver arrested, impairment suspected

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-- Police are investigating a triple fatal accident involving a multi-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon in Nye County.

Nevada State Police says a collision occurred shortly before 11:30 a.m. on the U.S. 95 at mile marker 27 near Amargosa Valley killing three people, a man, a young boy, and a girl.

Preliminary investigation shows a silver Volvo had been traveling northbound on the U.S. 95 when for reasons unknown failed to keep travel lanes and entered the southbound lanes of U.S. 95. 

A truck towing a camper saw the Volvo cut lanes into the southbound U.S. 95 and immediately pulled over in hopes of avoiding being hit.

Police say the Silver Volvo ended up sideswiping the truck towing a camper. The truck had 2 occupants who were not injured. ... Read More

Virgil Abloh, artistic director for Louis Vuitton, dies after battling cancer

LAS VEGAS (KLAS)-- Designer and Off-White founder Virgil Abloh died Sunday after a private battle with cancer, according to a tweet by luxury brand LVMH. He was 41 years old.

"LVMH, Louis Vuitton, and Off White are devastated to announce the passing of Virgil Abloh on Sunday, November 28th, of cancer, which he had been battling privately for several years."

Abloh was the first African American to head a major European Fashion house when Louis Vuitton named him its men's wear designer in 2018.

I-15 backs up for 20 miles at California border as holiday weekend wraps up

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Traffic on Interstate 15 has backed up for 20 miles as holiday visitors head home to California after the Thanksgiving weekend.

Expect delays if you are using I-15 today, and avoid it if you can.

HAZMAT responds to ammonia leak in downtown Las Vegas; no injuries reported

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- An ammonia leak caused the evacuation of several businesses late Saturday night as a HAZMAT team investigated the source, according to a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue news release.

Crews responded to 911 calls the area of Charleston Boulevard and Commerce Street just before 10 p.m.

A small leak was found at a food processing plant, and it was quickly repaired by technicians at the Desert Gold Food Company, 123 W. Colorado Ave., not far from the Arts District.

Crews were on hand for about three hours, and evacuations were lifted when the odor was no longer detectable. There were no injuries reported.

Ammonia is used in industrial refrigeration. When concentrated, ammonia is corrosive to tissues upon contact. Exposure to ammonia in sufficient quantities can be fatal... Read More
