LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A welcome dose of good news came in COVID-19 numbers as the Thanksgiving holiday weekend ended.

All the most important measurements of the disease's spread dropped -- and not just a little. Cases, deaths, hospitalizations and the test positivity rate all improved at both the state and county level. And Clark County took a giant step toward saying good-bye to the mask mandate.

UPDATE: Man accused in deadly DUI crash on US 95 identified; 1 man, 2 children killed

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The man accused of DUI in a deadly crash Sunday that left one man and two children dead and three others injured is facing numerous charges.

On Monday, the Nye County Sheriff's Office identified the three victims killed in the crash as 41-year-old Thomas Catan, 12-year-old male, Abiel Cata, and 7-year old female, Ayana Catan. All three victims have been confirmed to be Washington residents.

The crash happened around 11:30 a.m. on the U.S. 95 near Amargosa Valley.

Man from Netherlands dies after being struck by car on Nov. 15

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- A 43-year-old visitor from the Netherlands who was struck by a car on Tropicana Avenue nearly two weeks ago has died from his injuries.

According to Metro police, Roel Raatgever, died on Nov. 23 at University Medical Center.

Police said evidence at the scene and statements from witnesses indicated that Raatgever was part of a group that crossed Tropicana near Koval Lane against the light. Raatgever was struck by a driver in a car traveling eastbound on Tropicana. That driver had the green light. The driver, a 46-year-old man, did stay at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police said.

Small explosions make house fire difficult to fight in Pahrump

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- Crews in Nye County battled a large house fire in Pahrump late Sunday night.

According to the Nye County Sheriff's Office, some small explosions made it difficult for firefighters to fight the flames at the home on S. Meier Street.

There is no word on any injuries, at this time.

What's Driving You Crazy? - Eastern closing AGAIN under the 95/515 freeway

The idea of the Nevada Dept of Transportation shutting down Eastern under the 95/515 shouldn't be a shocker. It's already happened a couple of times as work continues on what's officially known as the “I-515 Rehabilitation Project” that we affectionately call “The Big Squeeze.”

What's different about the upcoming closure is the duration: much shorter. Instead of a full work week of workarounds, this one is scheduled to last less than 24 hours. Starting at 8 tonight, crews will be doing more on the reconstruction of the freeway bridge over Eastern. Drivers are supposed to get those lanes back at noon tomorrow... Read More
