Woman was shot in head before body burned near 7 Magic Mountains

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman found shot dead and burned in the desert near 7 Magic Mountains on July 4 has been identified as 29-year-old Natalie Carbajal.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office said Friday that Carbajal was killed by a gunshot to the head before being burned. The case is being investigated as a homicide.

Nellis airman killed in crash identified

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – A Nellis airman killed in a rollover crash this week was identified as 23-year-old Kaden Russell Peterson by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

Peterson was a passenger in a van that crashed on U.S. 95, just north of Lee Canyon Road. Four other airmen were injured in the Wednesday morning rollover.

According to NHP, the left rear tire of the van experienced a blowout causing the driver to lose control and run off the road. Peterson was pronounced dead at the scene... Read More

Man arrested nearly 2 weeks after Las Vegas crash that killed motorcyclist

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Police have arrested and charged a man in a July 6 hit-and-run accident that left a motorcyclist dead, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

Mitchell Magee, 27, was arrested Thursday and faces charges of reckless driving and failure to stop at the scene of an accident.

Navy veteran Thomas Robert Wallenta, 59, was killed in the crash.

Police said a white Nissan Altima ran a red light and crashed into Wallenta’s motorcycle, and then crashed into several stopped cars. The driver of the Nissan then jumped out of the car and ran from the scene... Read More

Red Rock scenic loop closed after accident

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An accident late Friday morning critically injured one person and led to the closure of the Red Rock Canyon scenic loop.

The 10:24 a.m. single-vehicle accident sent two people to University Medical Center, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said.

A tweet Friday afternoon indicated the closure was temporary but gave no estimate for the road reopening.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – 8 News Now was there for the unveiling of the Extraterrestrial Highway (formerly Highway 375) in rural Nevada.

Gragson indicted for role in crash that killed passenger

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Scott Gragson, the grandson of former Las Vegas Mayor Oran K. Gragson, has been indicted for his involvement in a May 30 crash that killed a passenger in his vehicle.

Melissa Newton, 36, a mother of three was killed in the crash. Two other people injured in the crash that occurred in a neighborhood near Flamingo Road and Town Center Drive.

Gragson, was leaving the Links for Life golf tournament, an annual event raising money for charity. The event at Bear’s Best golf course was hosted by Colliers International, where Gragson worked as an executive vice president. ... Read More
